Heh, somebody took the samples from Virtual Playing Orchestra (among others) and repackaged them as a soundfont (SF2):
https://sites.google.com/view/hed-sound ... -orchestra
Of course it doesn't have all of the goodies that are available from SFZ format, but on the other hand it doesn't have all of the baggage either.
So tracing the lineage, Aegean is based on Virtual Playing Orchestra, which is based on No Budget, Versilian Community Edition, and Sonatina Symphonic Orchestras, the latter being mostly a collection of earlier SF2 stuff that was floating around the internets
Anyway, it could be a good resource for anybody doing orchestral music who wants to avoid SFZ.
Edit: Makes me think of this sculpture that I saw in Seattle:

Re: Aegean Symphonic Orchestra
Can't download from Google Drive. Google hates Tor users.
I think this orchestra may be illegal. Jeff's instruments are CC-BY-SA while Sonatina are CC-Sampling-Plus. These licenses are incompatible so you can't put them in a single file. If there is an SF2 file for each instrument, then there will be no copyright infringement. However, it says about GM bank so it's 100% illegal.
