Hey,

maybe not the place to mention bugs, but note E4 is missing in the 1st-violin-SOLO-mod-wheel.sfz and the 1st-violin-SOLO-sustain.sfz file.
In the 1-violin-SOLO-accent.sfz file, the sustain part is also missing, only the staccato part is played. I guess they're all based off the same sustain library.

grtz,
Bart

Anywhere I might see it is a good place to mention bugs but I don't understand. Just now, I was able to play every note in the SOLO and SEC patches for 1st violins, 2nd violins and viola. I tested them all just in case you reported the wrong file or wrong note.

I looked at the file for 1st-violin-SOLO-sustain.sfz and the E4 note should be covered.

Can anyone confirm or refute the E4 issue? I'd like to track down why that note didn't work for you yet it works for me.

I can confirm the issue. The E is missing.

What about F4? The same sample should be used to play both notes.

Just to be clear, we're talking about the lowest E right?

Paul, I can test this out on Linux, hopefully this weekend. I'll report back what I find. If I am able to reproduce the problem I'll hopefully be able to send you a useful error message from the logs.

I believe I've discovered the cause of the missing E in 1st solo violins and others.

In the 1st-violin-SOLO-sustain.sfz file, try changing this:

4_F-PB.wav lokey=64 key=65

to this

4_F-PB.wav key=65 lokey=64

I thought it was a Linux issue but it seems to be an sfz implementation issue. The sfz player I’m using seems to be forgiving of the order of the “key” and “lokey” commands. I figure the “key” coming after the “lokey” overrides the “lokey” command. I’ll be posting a fix for this soon. This problem would affect most of the 1st and 2nd solo violin articulations.

Paul

Hi Paul, I tested changing the order of the lowkey and key parameters as you suggested, and verified that it fixes the bug.

I've created a patch to fix the violin problem and re-do some fine tuning of pitch, volume and panning that unfortunately went missing with version 2.0.

Can you make samples share the directory with sfz file? I know, that would means adding tons of license files but it would make it very easy to use individual instruments as part of another collection.

There are a few reasons why I wanted to keep the .sfz files separate from the .wav files, but if you want to try to merge them you certainly can. After you bring the files together, edit the .sfz files to change the path to the .wav files. All you need is text editor and to use the search and replace function of the editor.

Hi Paul,
one question: is it possible to play each instrument of the orchestra inside Ardour?
I'm very new at this so I need a real basic explanation,
Right now I use a Sonatina orchestra. I have the sf2 folder in usr/share.
Within Ardour I use the Calf multisynth to play the Orchestra instruments.
Do I just need to create a sfz folder in usr/share and put all the sounds in there, so I can play them in Ardour with the multisynth, or another process is requested?
I'm on Linux Ubuntu.
Thank you.

What is Calf Multisynth? I can't find any information about it.
