Surge synth testers wanted, also an LV2 version in the works

Post by glowrak guy »

Lots of work coming to fruition on the opensource Surge synth revival.
Nightly .deb builds for testers at

https://surge-synthesizer.github.io/#downloads

One of the devs mentioned in brief that an LV2 version is also coming soon,
pretty cool that such an excellent instrument is being improved! 8)

Isn't this older? I remember that previously it what not working on e.g. Debian 9. Seems that changed?

Anybody know why this isn't just a .lv2 file but a .deb package?

It has that, VST2, VST3, and a bunch of presets. You can open the Deb package with an archive manager to see. It might be possible to place the files on the hard drive yourself if you put them in the right locations. Anyway it seems to be a rather innocent Deb package. (edit) I forgot it also had a couple dependencies but nothing that looked like it might mess with my system. I forgot what they were...

The LV2 version has now an openSUSE package, if you are interested :D

The locale bug is fixed now so even if you're not UK or US you can have all the presets. Cool !

And have those presets correct. I am pretty sure there wasn't any preset which was correct with that bug present :-)

This thing is not working for me. I have Debian 10 since yesterday and tried to copy surge.so in my vst folder.

ldd surge gives me:

I have the same problem. Don't want to bloat my Audio Laptop with build tools so I hope ther will soon be an updated version with static libxcb or some other work around. Have only seen the screen shots and would really like to test it. Did actually install this Debian 10 box to try it out since the .deb file was not accepted on my Debian 9... Was a bit surprised it didn't work on 10

Same here. I wanted to build the vst2 version but that's not possible as the vst2 sdk is not available.
