Not getting input to Ardour from Focusrite Scarlett 6i6

Updated to kernel 4.4 low latency. Alsa works in Audacity, but I can't get alsa to load in Ardour either. Tried setting up JACK as well with no luck. Tried killing all the processes before opening Ardour, but no input. I DO GET output, however.

You get output with the 6i6 + alsa + ardour, but no input ??
My gut feeling says - wrong mixer setting in hardware/alsa or wrong mixer setting in ardour ..

Couple of things to try

• this is a long shot, but hey .. we're desperate .
  Please note that if I do the thing below it does not give me any controls with my USB mixer but input/output still works fine
  • open a terminal
  • type

    Code: Select all

    alsamixer

  • press F6 to select the proper soundcard
  • press F4 to select the Capture tab
    look for any controls there
• try booting a live distro and see if it works there. Maybe avlinux or ubuntu studio
• If you happen to have a windows partition I'd check it in windows too, just to rule out any weird hardware problem
• Ardour has a forum, maybe ask for assistance there https://community.ardour.org/forums
