Problem getting wineasio to work: AVLinux

Post by windeguy »

I am trying AVLinux on a 32 bit laptop. I have used KXStudio for several years on the same type of laptop with no problem using wineasio as an audio driver for CantabilelLite 2

I added the KXStudio repos using the info at the KXStudio home page which was:
# Install required dependencies if needed
sudo apt-get install apt-transport-https software-properties-common wget

# Download package file
wget https://launchpad.net/~kxstudio-debian/ ... o1_all.deb

# Install it
sudo dpkg -i kxstudio-repos_9.3.2~kxstudio1_all.deb
When I tred to install wineasio, I was having a problem and I finally downloaded the .deb package from:

https://sourceforge.net/projects/kxstud ... DEBs/repo/

Then I did regsvr32 wineasio.dll, and it appeared to install correctly.

However, when I run Cantabile, I do not have wineasio as a choice of audio driver and of course I have very high latency without it.

I noticed that in KXStudio I have the following:
wineasio
windasio-i386
wine-gecko
wine-mono
wine-RT-i386

In AVLinux I have all of the above at the same rev level except that I do not have just plain wineasio (I just have wineasio-i386).
Is that the problem? What do I need to do from here?

Hi,

Thanks for posting here so falkTX knows about the repo error. I missed that you were using AVL 32bit. AV Linux 32bit has a custom build of 'wine-rt' which is intended to work the special ArdourVST build, (for some reason ArdourVST can't be built and doesn't run with the KXStudio wine-rt packages). As far as I'm aware this custom wine-rt should work with wineasio, it works perfectly fine with Carla and other wine-related KXStudio packages however if you don't plan on using 'ArdourVST' you can unpin 'wine-rt' in Synaptic and update/install the KXStudio 'wine-rt' packages if you want. I'm not saying that is the problem necessarily just that it is an option if that ends up being related to your wineasio issue.
