Kxstudio and Armbian

Post by Broomy »

Is it possible to enable the KXstudio Repo's when using Armbian?

AFAIK the ARM architecture doesn't support the SSE2 instruction set, which is a minimum requirement for most today's kxstudio audio applications.
So you might be out of luck.
You can check by entering
cat /proc/cpuinfo
in a terminal on your ARM device and look for the line beginning with "Features".
But maybe others can comment more.
(Running a Raspberry Pi3 Model B).

Ok thanks.
My mean goal is to setup guitarix, but I can build this from source as well (although using the KX-repo's would be the easy way... ;-) )

Do you use your RPI for audio application?
And if so what kind of tweaking did you do?

Hello/Hallo/Hey Hans,

I also would have chosen "the easy way" first, using kxstudio repos, welcome to the club ;)
Alas, no I don't use my RPi for audio.
I wish you best efforts, may the open source be with you :)

I've got Guitarix up and running. So the goal is achieved. Processing audio with this board doable with reasonable specs: 48k, 512 en 3.
So, I'm happy with the results.

I would love to take it a step further and use these (newer) boards for recording audio. One big advantage is the absence of a ventilator when recording voice or acoustic guitar.

I've my eye on the new Orange Pi PC2 Orange Pi PC2, but I don't know if this is allready KXstudio-repo compatible. I think that when this is so, it might be a turning point for these boards, because then it would be very interesting for the everyday user.
