KXStudio with XFCE

Post by autorun »

I've read several posts and the latest instructions on the official website, but still confused.
What's the best way to install KXStudio along with XFCE?

This page http://kxstudio.linuxaudio.org/Repositories, suggests to install the latest .deb package which I don't know if it's gonna convert my Ubuntu into KXStudio including KDE...

I've also read about doing
sudo apt-get install kxstudio-default-settings
sudo apt-get install kxstudio-dekstop-xfce

Should I install first KXStudio and then sudo apt-get install xfce4 instead?

Thanks falk!
I've read this http://kxstudio.linuxaudio.org/Document ... a-Packages

kxstudio-meta-all (all audio and video apps)
Just wondering about kxstudio-desktop-base (no KDE, but what?), kxstudio-default-settings (I read this is 80% of KXStudio, is it just configurations? is this what configures JACK?)
What do they install?

my setup is kxstudio with the linux lowlatency kernel 3.13.0-125. yesterday ive replaced kde with XFce 4.10 which is as simple as as installing "xfce4" via the package manager. it made everything simpler and better looking and i can totally recommend that especially if you can spend some time customizing xfce!

now i would like to upgrade to XFce 4.12 but for some reason cant. apparently the kernel is too old or my ubuntu version isnt supported in 4.12. how can i upgrade that? via the kx-studio repos? the most current linux kernel is 4.12, does that go together with kx-studio?
