I always believed you made some special patches for KDE and XFCEfalkTX wrote:All ISOs I'll make will always have KDE.
It's what I know and use daily, and also know how to patch.
There's nothing stopping you from installing Xubuntu or any other XFCE+Debian/Ubuntu distro and put kx repos on top.

Sorry cant get a screen shot as it hangs before booting properly.falkTX wrote:I remember a related issue.billybob wrote:Downloaded, checked MD5 OK, but wont boot from USB stick - have tried Unetbootin and Imagewriter in Mint. Error mentions "ELF" ?
can you post a screenshot?
Here are the 2 line which are repeated a few times
/sbin/udevadm:line1:ELF: not found
/sbin/udevadm:line2: syntax error: unexpected "("
The final line which appears after around a minute of waiting is
(initramfs) Unable to find a medium containing a live file system
Means nothing to me

I am experiencing the exact same thing. I thought it might be the usb stick or DLd image, but no such luck.
Looking forward the the new ISO.

If you feel like doing going to 14.04 I may give it a shot once it's stable if there is a way to just add the repositorys to 14.04. Still running 12.04 64 wtih kxstudio and still running great so not that important to me to see any new isos or anything like that.

Re: Anyone interested on a 14.04-based ISO?
Can only find a 64bit iso on the SF site. Is this correct or am I missing something ?
Downloaded and got Unetbootin to work with the 64 bit iso BUT no connection (Firefox) to the wired ethernet even though the network manager was saying connected. Tried to disconnect and then re-connect but wouldn't. Nothing strange in the settings.
This is only in the live mode, I'm not going to install if the network isn't working !

Tried Kubuntu 14.04 64 bit on USB as a live media and can connect to internet OK, posting this from there now.
Some bug in your iso ? Will try again and report back.
Edit:- Tried again with Kxstudio 64 bit ISO but still same result - says its connected but its not.

I have just tried to download the 32bit 14.04 from SF but they say the file does not exist.falkTX wrote:Gnome is nice but I like KDEredhasouna wrote:Well i would suggest for the next update 14.04 or any further update to use Gnome 3.x or xfce if possible KDE is nice but i like more Gnome .... You can always make ISOs yourself
But again, KXStudio is not about the ISOs. They are not very important in my opinion.
The important is the repositories working for everyone.
Are there any repos to add KXstudio "bits" to a standard Kubuntu 14.04 ?

Re: Anyone interested on a 14.04-based ISO?
Hey there,
I tried to run the latest 14.04 ISO. Therefore I downloaded the *.iso file and used unetbootin to creat a live image an an usb stick.
I couldn't get it to boot. Theres just one image choosable called "default" and when I hit enter "invalid or corrupt kernel image" is showing up.
Any ideas on this?
Thanks indeed

Re: Anyone interested on a 14.04-based ISO?
ok I tried it with usb-creator-kde under kxstudio 12.04 but the terminal says: when I select the 14.04 iso...
Strange behaviour... As it works for other users I assume, that this is related to my system only...
Thanks anyway Falktx for your quick response!
Code: Select all
isoinfo: Short read on old image

Re: Anyone interested on a 14.04-based ISO?
I've only just seen F has uploaded a 64bit 14.04-based KX ISO (great!) which I've not tried yet but I wanted to comment on the network issue. plasma-nm connects via a wired connection but it doesn't show its status for me under both kubuntu 14.04 and Debian Jessie - it always says wired is disconnected even if its active. If you've found a fix for this please share it with us F as the Debian plasma-nm maintainers didn't respond to me when I asked them about this.
It took years for plasma-nm to become usable then as soon as it works they go and change the interface and break it all again! :/
