Switching Carla patchbay connections via MIDI

Is it possible to use buttons on my MIDI keyboard to change which carla plugin the MIDI notes are fed to? I guess this equates to switching the patchbay config via MIDI commands.

What I want to do is press the "next track" button on my MIDI keyboard and then hear a different instrument play. I'm using Carla as an instrument host and feeding the audio into LUPPP (a loop sequencing DAW). At the moment each time I switch the instrument sounded by my note presses I to use my mouse on the Carla patchbay, which doesn't work for live performance or single-take loop recording.

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll have a go. It's weird how no Linux audio DAW I've used so far supports instrument switching via midi to allow for live performance or instrument controlled recording sessions. You've given me some things to work on though
