guitar amp/cab sims with impulse response loading

Hey, I'm new here. Awesome site.
I'm a guitar player and love only using linux. Unfortunately, I need to use vst-plugins because I've tried everything possible to get an amp sound like Amplitube, GuitarRig, Juicy77, etc but nothing for linux. I've tried all the caps, creox, etc., but nothing to give that edge for hardrock or metal.

Then I found out about impulse response loading using this free vst plugin Voxengo Boogex and following the info at: http://www.guitarampmodeling.com/viewto ... =32&t=2452.

Now I run my cheap Peavey Rage practice amp's preamp direct to my soundcard, start jack, dssi-vst or fst to launch Voxengo Boogex, follow the instructions at http://www.guitarampmodeling.com/viewto ... =32&t=2452 and wow, many FREE cabs sounds to choose from!!!

My question is, do we have a linux native impulse response loading app like Voxengo Boogex or keFIR?

add this info too... this stuff rocks:

Hey, glad to have you! I wish I could help you out, but I really don't know very much about using vst effects at all. I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that Ardour supports using vst effects...have you checked that out?

all made with amsguitrack - a patch for alsa modular synth made of caps-plugins.

yes:

no:
none of the linux-response-convoluters come with a easy usable GUI and they are not specialized/optimized for guitarsounds.

At the moment we are about to make new patches for amsguitrack that offer a some more sophisticated master-channel and speakersimulation.

thanx guys, will look into amsguitrack but I've tried everything with caps-plugins but nothing.
even a dude at LAD wrote an excellent article on getting great guitar tone from caps and it sounded amazing for blues and jazz but nothing sounds close to the impulse response.
in fact, you don't need it to be optimized for guitar as I've used reverb impulse response loader to load the guitar cab/amp sim and still get a really good sound.

check out the links I posted to get a better idea. I was truly blown away. I even ran a caps guitar through the keFIR and got an amazing sound. Really authentic.

Give it a try....check out the links about to hear a dude mimic his real rig with an impulse response.

Hi

I am just working on a guitarampsimulation witch will use ImpulseResponse, but for now it is only posible to set frequenz and peakgain for the ImpulseResponse, you cant load a example wav. Useable as Ladspa plugin or as jack Gtk application.

here is a preview: Image

you find the source or a prebuild .deb (debian/unstable) here:

brummer, thank you, thank you! I've been using feFIR via wine to load the impulse response but as we all know that these vsts are not too stable on linux and crashes at some crucial points of recording.
I will give it a try and give you feedback.

Just can't get the download....page not working

you need to point a browser at the adress, it is just a domain and it is hosted on a https:// server. Then you need to accept the (home grown)security key

your feedback will be welcome

got it now. I run my practise amp (10 watt peavey rage) preamp to my pc, then through qjackctl to guitarfx. nice metal sound. really makes my little amp here sound huge.
How do I load impulse response that I've been using with keFIR?
they're simple wav files.

sorry, I missed where you said I can't load any impulse response yet...

I work on it

, try ImpulseResponse together with the crybaby(wah).

When I get it to work with loadeable sample files, I let you know. Just now I add a feedback/feedforward filter.

have fun

nice to hear that.
so it seems you dont like the ImpulseResponse part how it work for now?

Than it would'nt make you happy, that I work now, at first on the todo list, on a nogui parameter option to run just the audio tread.
I use guitarix to play jazzrock and metal with my ukulele
I use a small electret condesator micro from sony witch I hold between my fingers. All the people which see that, cant belive that. First they belive there is a tape runing and it is just a joke show.

Hey brummer...
I like the unit very much. I just like using many impluse response for different tones. That's why I wanted to know if you could load other impulse response like the vst keFIR does.
That way, I have different cabs from mesa, fenders, marshalls, and different mic angles to reproduce a more real sound.
I was using your guitarix on a blues riff to jam with hydrogen..

Hey, any videos of your act with your uncle? I would love to see and hear it.

Thanx again for the guitarix and I'm looking forward for the new versions.
