What other apps and distros do you use to round out your studio?

Your jack is okay, what is missing is lilv-0
on debian you'll need the dev packages from the missing library's, don't know if it is the same on suse.

Hi,

I wonder a bit what's the best and most stable way to use Guitarix. I exported Guitarix as a LV2 Plugin via CARLA and made some tests in REAPER yesterday. However REAPER crashed several times when using this method. Anyone else having stability issues?
I could use it as stand alone but then I have to somehow save a preset for every song/track or have quickly decide what parameters to take and directly record the track.

I'm using:

Code: Select all

marco@fox:/usr/lib/vst$ apt-cache policy guitarix
guitarix:
  Installiert: 3:0.36.1+git20180424v5
  Installationskandidat: 3:0.36.1+git20180424v5
  Versionstabelle:
 *** 3:0.36.1+git20180424v5 500
        500 http://ppa.launchpad.net/kxstudio-debian/gcc5/ubuntu xenial/main amd64 Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
     3:0.36.1+git20180424 500
        500 http://ppa.launchpad.net/kxstudio-debian/plugins/ubuntu trusty/main amd64 Packages
     1:0.32.3+git20150416-1kxstudio1 500
        500 http://ppa.launchpad.net/kxstudio-debian/plugins/ubuntu lucid/main amd64 Packages
     0.35.2-2 500
        500 http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian stretch/main amd64 Packages
        500 http://deb.debian.org/debian stretch/main amd64 Packages

Well, I don't know REAPER, I never used it.
For guitarix as plugin, you should ensure that you use the -D option in the command line for the export, to make guitarix run as single client. Side-effect of the -D option is that it get it's own config file, so what ever you do in guitarix stand-alone wont interference with guitarix as plugin.
However, saving a preset is a easy task, and, you need to do that as well, when using as plugin, and you would be able to recreate the desired sound.

Hello,
I will create another dedicated post to annunce our project, but in the mean time, it seems like our Fiwe software can do this: https://fiwe.studio/testing-software-standalone/
You may ask for audio input to be coming from a wav file, or you may use a "AudioFileReader" effect in your sound chain :)
