Cadence: PulseAudio loading issues at boot

What other apps and distros do you use to round out your studio?

Cadence: PulseAudio loading issues at boot

Post by autorun »

I've installed Cadence Version: 2:0.8.1+git20170711 from kxstudio-debian/apps/ubuntu repository on Ubuntu 14.04
Everything's fine, but there's a loading issue at boot with JACK -> PulseAudio -> JACK (plugin)

I need to restart the indicator, and select manually "PulseAudio Sink".

Is there a place to check logs for more information on this?

PulseAudio sound/volume indicator can't load. It looks like this:

Yes i'm big fan of alsamixer :) but the indicator is handy, as you can scroll it to turn up/down the volume.

Having "JACK -> PulseAudio -> JACK (plugin)" setup, I've always could be able to turn PulseAudio sink volume without problems. Thing is xfce4-mixer used to work, and i'm not sure when it started to fail at boot.
Because if I manually remove the indicator, and readd it, choosing PulseAudio sink, it works. But that doesn't work at boot.

"PulseAudio System Tray" app also fails.

I might need to check xfce4-mixer or pulseaudio logs, but not sure where they are.

This the reason I don't use Cadence any more, I use qjackctl like this - viewtopic.php?f=19&t=13234
It means you still get to use the pulseaudio levels.

Cadence is great.
This seems to be an issue with PulseAudio Sink not loaded when indicator tries to use it at boot.

I'm not knocking cadence at all but it produces the issue you're describing, for me at least.
Are you sure cadence was disabled on boot when you tried qjackctl with tramp's script, assuming that's what you mean by that picture?
