Spotify does not play in Clementine

What other apps and distros do you use to round out your studio?

Spotify does not play in Clementine

Post by lilith »

Hi guys,

I have Clementine (Version 1.3.1-333-gf854bc5) installed and want to stream spotify (premium) via clementine. The search function works perfectly, however when playing something it buffers up to 100% and got stuck after the first second. No sound at all. This is what I get when starting clementine

Code: Select all

@lilith

I know this doesn't fix your problem with Clementine but if you're not already aware there is a Linux Spotify client application:
https://www.spotify.com/ca-en/download/linux/

It might get you going until the bug is fixed, I use it all the time and it works well..

@Glen,

thanks, I was aware of it and just gave it a trial. It works :) . I didn 't want to install it, because last weekend I bootet AVlinux from a live stick and opened spotify. After some minutes the system completely freezed and I had to press the reset button. I'm not sure if spotify was the reason, but that made me cautious.

Hi glad you found something that works for now, :)

Regarding the freeze up with Spotify on the AV Linux LiveUSB stick, I can't say that I have tested Spotify in a Live session before, it is possible that there is a problem with it but with Live sessions the running conditions are quite a bit different than an Install and the AV Linux RT kernel can give very fast performance but can sometimes be a bit temperamental with some hardware on some computers so it's hard to say what happened..

Ok, I set up my system with Debian and still it does not work. Now some plugins are missing:
GStreamer could not create the element: gdpdepay. Please make sure that you have installed all necessary GStreamer plugins (e.g. OGG and MP3)
Anyone have seen this?

No. But gdpdepay seems to belong to the package gst-plugins-bad. I guess it's not installed by default so you have to install it.

I cancelled my memberhip at spotify as I won't support them and I rarely listen to spotify atm. I've I come back I'll check it out. Thanks!
