guys, thanks for the praise :) even though it was Hermann's move to split guitarix and the jconv widget, so let's give him the credit here :)

Pablo, in principle, what you're saying is right (reusing the app for other external dynamic effects). However, the extra ports that turn the app into a "smart" insert are only registered when we activate jconv. When we deactivate jconv, these ports are deactivated.

So unless we make these ports permanent, it cannot be done. If we do make them permanent, we must change their names into something meaningful.

Thanks for the answer thorgal, I see. However, I can push the "Run jconv" button for these ports to appear and afterwards, disconnect the ports (by qjackctl or patchage) without stopping jconv, so they don't disappear and I have them available for something else. Anyhow, right now I am not sure if this is useful for me.

Thanks again :D Pablo

revision 19 still only goes as far as 0.9 on the wet.
I connect like this in qjackctl:

line to 0 and 1 on JcGui in ports
JcGui 0 and 1 out to Jconvolver
Jconvolver to system out.

Also thanks, friends, hope you enjoy the app.
thorgal, you are a full member of the jcgui project, join it when ever you wont or have time.
Most of the code is arranged by you, I have just strip it down to a simple host, :D

have fun hermann

funkmuscle, connect only Jc_gui, in and out, Jconvolver will connected automatic with Jc_Gui.
It's then line in Jc_Gui:in_0 /in_1 . . . Jc_Gui:out_0 /out_1 to playback
jconvolver will feat by Jc_Gui:out_2 /out_3 and jconvolver give back the data at Jc_Gui:in_2 /in_3.
The wet/dry slider move the data between Jc_Gui:out_0 /out_1 and Jc_Gui:out_2 /out_3.
when you set the slider to the right side, only Jc_Gui:out_2 /out_3 recive data, then only jconvolver recive data.

Finaly, the output to jack comes from Jc_Gui:out_0 /out_1.

Try the port connect widget from Jc_Gui.

Great work, Hermann!
I love the new skin. Are you going to do a similar one for Guitarix?
(You could call it "mordor" - its evil enough  )

revision 28 uses lots of cpu... with or without IR loaded or jconvolver running.

I'm seeing the same thing.
Top reports total usage:

jack only: 0.7% user 0.5% sys
jcgui ( jconv off ) 8.3% user 17.5%sys
jcgui ( jconv on ) 20.9%user 19.9%sys

The "sys" figure with jconv off looks suspiciously high.

hey brummer, is it possible to make this a plugin? Maybe say lv2? Like the vst, you can try different cab IR files till you got the right one for your tune.
I know you can do this with jcgui and ardour using inserts but as a plugin, it is saved and doesn't need to be launched separately. Also, it comes in handy too for reverb IR files too to add to tracks when not using a bus.
Just a thought.

I didn't plan to do so. :|
My main project in this sense will be guitarix, also I have start a project here witch will take the biggest amount of my time next months (rebuild a house from 1830 as my live middle point), so next time there wouldn't follow improvements from my side. Anyway, if anyone will work on the source, both (guitarix and jcgui) are open projects and everyone can join the development cycle, just contact me and I open a pipe.

brummer, I can't remember if I asked this already but will you be upgrading jcgui? I mean making it a unit to use all of jconvolver features for reverb?
the aella project doesn't look like it will happen... It's been promised for sometime now and no work yet. Nothing like an alpha or beta to test...
Linux could really use an app like that... They sound so good on the vsts like sIR... Hybridreverb2 along with jost just eats up cpu... My cpu metre screams at 100% when I just launch them.. :(
