Soundproblems on Ubuntu

Hi,

I'm experimenting a bit with commercial software and wine. I'm not want to use it myself but want to show my friends what is possible.

I'm following this howto: http://www.davehayes.org/2007/04/27/how ... h-wineasio

But when I start wine

~$ winecfg

and hit the sound tab, my system (ubuntu hardy) freezes and I've to reboot

What could this be?

when I start mscore I get:

connection failing
pulseaudio suspending

and then the system freezes

Also I've no systemsounds, no sound on flash videos on the internet, amarok, vlc, audacious > no sound

exaille, rhythmbox, totem > sound

edit: solved amarok, internet flash by setting the onboard card 'off' in my BIOS.
