How to use a microphone jack on my pc as a line in jack?

i ask this because when i try to record via the mic input on my laptop i get shitty sound whit a crrrrrttttttt... sound

Hi!

Could you describe better what you aim to do? What microphone are you trying to use? Does it have an XLR output? Are you trying to connect to a line in Jack input of your soundcard?

Look carefully through the mixer settings and see if you can turn the pre-amp down or off (some pc's call it mic boost). It is usually the pre amp that is noisy. If you can turn it off you may find the input quite usable.

It's hard to tell what is wrong, could you post a clip somewhere with the "shitty sound whit a crrrrrttttttt..."?
