Falk, would Cadence segfault if jackdbus were not available?

I mean (I’m trying to guess), it appears pulse fails to start because it cannot connect to jack. May this by any chance prevent jackdbus from starting? Would it be a solution to disable pulseaudio in systemctl and let Cadence do the job?

Funny thing, with "no_app_indicators" cadence starts normally. When I remove this file, it segfaults.

I posted output of systemctl status pulseaudio above and it looks like there is no such service? I'm new to systemd though, so I might have done something wrong. I remember setting autospawn option for pa to "no".

You’re right. The PulseAudio ArchWiki says that is is the X11 environment (i.e. Unity) that starts pulseaudio. In this case it wouldn’t be a systemd service. This also answers my own question.

Oh my....

Turns out this was a stupid mistake (should I say: another stupid mistake?). Period was set to 64. When I changed it to 128, Jack started...

I wasn’t much help, anyway. Glad it works. Jack only works with period set to 64 with the firewire card here as well.
