'Cool'n quiet' bios option made Xruns (amd cpu)

Post by Xzu Rukneg »

Hello.

Just to inform that I've resolved strange Xrun on a strong hardware configuration just by disabling "cool'n quiet" option in the BIOS.

The CPU was a phenomII x4.
Motherboard:ASRock N68C-S UCC

And I've add DDR3 1600 RAM and the mother board don't use right frequency by default (400mhz), I need to set It manually to the right frequency (800mhz).
These values are given for informative by my poor memory.

Giving the motherboard make and model could be very useful to other users who might face the same issue, please.

Is there any way to detect whether this option is enabled on a running system?

It'd be nice to add it to a script like realtimeconfigquickscan

OK, so choosing the 'performance' governor is equivalent to disabling cool'n quiet in the BIOS?

Yes. Disabling Cool'n'Quiet disables CPU frequency scaling and makes the CPU run at its max clock rate.
