Re: [LAA] Xmonk.lv2 a little sound generator
Played together with the pitch and modulation wheels, Xmonk sings very vividly.
At the moment you can play Xmonk "only" from E1 - E3. Would it be technically possible to let him play the full range A0 - C8(?)?

Yes, it's shared data provided by the host.merlyn wrote:Using jack_midi_dump I got this :
My controller doesn't send anything while the key is held. I had a look at the code. Is the variable 'gate' meant to be a pointer?Code: Select all
23: 90 32 51 note on (channel 0): pitch 50, velocity 81
I wonder if you've the same issue with Xmonk in a other host like jalv or carla.
On the road again.

The limit from E1 -E3 is only set in the UI when you use the mouse. When you use a keyboard you've the full range.khz wrote:At the moment you can play Xmonk "only" from E1 - E3. Would it be technically possible to let him play the full range A0 - C8(?)?

Re: [LAA] Xmonk.lv2 a little sound generator
I tried Carla and the notes sustain when I hold down a key. The modulation wheel isn't fully working in Carla. I ticked 'receive CC' in Carla and the dot in the Xmonk GUI moves but the vowel changes only intermittently.tramp wrote:I wonder if you've the same issue with Xmonk in a other host like jalv or carla.
Another issue is that if the GUI is not visible Xmonk plays the same note no matter what MIDI key is pressed.

Okay, today I had the time to check it again, and indeed it didn't work as expected, the midi bindings been broken.merlyn wrote:I tried Carla and the notes sustain when I hold down a key. I've pushed now the fixes and hope that solve all issues regarding the midi support.
On the road again.

Re: [LAA] Xmonk.lv2 a little sound generator
I can only play Xmonk from E1 - E3, whether via Xmonk GUI, Xmonk GUI Keyboard or external keyboard. But I keep testing.
With the latest git version the sustain is always on (1.0) when I use an external keyboard, with the Xmonk GUI keyboard it works correctly.
Same behavior here.merlyn wrote:Another issue is that if the GUI is not visible Xmonk plays the same note no matter what MIDI key is pressed.

Re: [LAA] Xmonk.lv2 a little sound generator
I noticed on more bug related to loading a saved session in Ardour, were Xmonk may init with garbage values. I've fixed that now.
Also I've fixed now the issue with the little x-button in the window decoration of the midi keyboard, it works now (hide on delete).

Please update to the latest revision and let me know if the issue still exist for you. If so, let me know which host you use.khz wrote:I can only play Xmonk from E1 - E3, whether via Xmonk GUI, Xmonk GUI Keyboard or external keyboard. But I keep testing.

Thanks.merlyn wrote:Yes, it all works.
Thanks. I like how the GUI changes colour with pitch and vowel.
It's a fun plugin!
I'm glad you like the little animation, then that was on of the reasons for the initial issues with midi support.

Re: [LAA] Xmonk.lv2 a little sound generator
I always do "git clone" when there's something new.
If I use Xmonk with GUI in Carla ("Send Control Changes" on) with a sequencer I can play the full range, everything OK.
When the GUI is closed Xmonk plays 1 constant tone, even after stopping the sequencer. By opening the GUI and "play with mouse" you stop the continuous tone again.

Re: [LAA] Xmonk.lv2 a little sound generator
Okay, I say FUCK. Last development circle I concentrate on Ardour5, and there anything works like expected, even without showing the GUI.
It's a real pain now to see that you are right.
In carla it indeed only work when you've enable the GUI.
Fuck, back to the draw-board.
