[ANN] Vee One Suite 0.9.4 - A Late Autumn'18 Release

Post by rncbc »

Greetings!

The Vee One Suite of so called old-school software instruments, synthv1, as a polyphonic subtractive synthesizer, samplv1, a polyphonic sampler synthesizer, drumkv1 as yet another drum-kit sampler and padthv1 as a polyphonic additive synthesizer, are all being released for the late in Autumn'18.

All still available in dual format:
- a pure stand-alone JACK client with JACK-session, NSM (Non Session management) and both JACK MIDI and ALSA MIDI input support;
- a LV2 instrument plug-in.

The changes for this special season are the following:
- Make sure all LV2 state sample file references are resolved to their original and canonical file-paths (not symlinks). (applies to samplv1 and drumkv1 only)
- Fixed a severe bug on saving the LV2 plug-in state: the sample file reference was being saved with the wrong name identifier and thus gone missing on every session or state reload thereafter.(applies to samplv1 only)
- Sample waveform drawing is a bit more keen to precision.
- Old deprecated Qt4 build support is no more.
- Normalized wavetable oscillator phasors.
- Added missing include <unistd.h> to shut up some stricter compilers from build failures.

The Vee One Suite are free, open-source Linux Audio software, distributed under the terms of the GNU General Public License (GPL) version 2 or later.

And here they go again!

FWIW. drobilla.net have just released suil 0.10.2.

the news are interestingly special and quite important for all of you who use the vee-one-suite under Ardour: you can now ditch to oblivion those p.s. words of advice for Ardour users... and enjoy the V1's Qt5 GUI all the way to their fullest, out-of-the-box, without any stupid hacks; applies to both Ardour5 and 6, whatever ;)

wholly season kudos to drobilla (and to me :P)
all the best.

AArgh - I hate disturbing the party but trying to build suil 0.10.2 I get for Openemebedded build (upgraded from 0.10.0 which built fine):

| [ 9/19] Linking ../build/libsuil_x11_in_gtk2.so
| [10/19] Compiling src/cocoa_in_qt5.mm
| arm-mortsgna-linux-gnueabi-g++: error: ../suil-0.10.2/src/cocoa_in_qt5.mm: Objective-C++ compiler not installed on this system

Something I need to disable?

that's way far from an expected outcome on a(ny) linux system :S

care to to tell your findings upstream?
nb. meaning that ain't a v1 issue.

Cool, beautiful work. Congratulations rncbc.

I have a request: Please, Can you consider doing a .deb package for your software?. I've saw that all your software like qjackctl or qtractor have a Appimage, a rpm package or source code. Distros based on Debian be a huge number and I miss a simple and light-weight .deb package like .rpm.

Please, consider that.

Regards.

rncbc, I can't install some apps form your OBS repositorie. I've tried with .deb packages of ubuntu 16.04 and 18.04 (now I'm on ubuntu 18.04) and always it ask me for unistall a lot of software, basically jackd2, and install jackd1. rncbc, Do you have any tips for install that .deb packages?

ergo my disclaimer above.
most packaging in my OBS repo are delivered for jack-0.125.1 (jackd1) which is also listed; however and again, the disclaimer still applies.
