I can't figure out how to pick an alsa device in this app. It keeps crashing when selecting an alsa device.

Sounds like a problem shutting down JACK. (How I hate that ill-conceived mess. It doesn't even release its stranglehold on the soundcard once jack gets its hands on the card. Bad, bad resource tracking).

Try this. Run BackupBand, and leave it running. Run QJackCtl and click the "Stop" button to stop JACK. Now flip back to BackupBand's window, and see if you can choose an alsa output (Setup -> General -> Internal Synth) without a crash.

If you can, it's a jack bug with JackCloseClient().

It still crashes after killing jackd.
