thanks

news are that synthv1 0.8.1.11git.90ec14 (today's git head master) might have this fixed...

please test && tell

Hi rncbc,
sorry for my inexperience; when I ran autogen I got this message:

./autogen.sh
make: aclocal: Command not found
Makefile.git:4: recipe for target 'configure' failed
make: *** [configure] Error 127

Was I supposed to do this as root?

Also, will this conflict with the KXstudio version already installed? Or do I need to run it from within the make folder?

not like that. you'll need automake (which includes aclocal iirc.) to get autogen.sh to generate a proper configure script at first; then the usual build chore `./configure && make && sudo make install` will get the things installed under /usr/local as default.

after `sudo make install` you can then try running the stand-alone jack client (synthv1_jack) or the LV2 plugin, provided /usr/local/lib/lv2 takes precedence to /usr/lib/lv2 on the LV2_PATH -- probably you'll get duplicate warnings on the LV2 inventory though.

whether successfully satisfied, or not with testing, you can always call for `sudo make uninstall` and basically get things as it were.

Hi rncbc,
sorry for the delay.
I received an update of Synthv1 today (now 0.8.1-1KXstudio2). But it didn't seem to improve things any, so I followed your directions and installed the git version. -Beautiful! I love the green buttons! :) Synthv1 has a kind of "aggressive" look (and sound?) to it now, and I really like it. And the "bug" is now gone. Thank you for this!

Already busy tweaking away....

Maybe you should put up a bug report with KXStudio, then...

I don't think it's worth it, if the git version will eventually replace the current kxstudio version anyway.

Thanks. Your http://linuxsynths.com/ page has been really helpful to me, as I am completely new to synths and trying to learn about them and experimenting with presests.

@briandc, just a quick note: all the .synthv1 presets made with the current git version are backwards-compatible with any of the v0.8.x releases. no sweat ;)

Thanks, rncbc! Backwards-compatibility is definitely nice to have!

I'm just now scrolling through some of the presets in the "kobraaji" bank over at KVR. Are they too old for the current version? It sounds as though they aren't loading right... kobraaji-bank-KVR

waht you mean aren't loading right? they work alright here on >= v0.8.2.

though the vast majority of those presets are set to "mono"--could that be a problem? :)

Just that some of them sounded "buzzy" or "distorted," similar to my old presets that weren't working with the newer releases. Just a guess..

nope. as far as I could see, most of those .synthv1 files do not suffer from that "disease" you called in :)
