Guitarix 0.35.2 released

Post by tramp »

The Guitarix developers proudly present

Guitarix release 0.35.2

Guitarix is a tube amplifier simulation for
jack (Linux), with an additional mono and a stereo effect rack.
Guitarix includes a large list of plugins[*] and support LADSPA / LV2 plugs as well.

The guitarix engine is designed for LIVE usage, and feature ultra fast, glitch and click free preset switching and is full Midi and/or remote controllable (the Web UI is not included in the distributed tar ball).

This release mainly fix a build issue in Debian #839354 and ARCH

Beside that, the changes are:
* add stereo cabinet plugin
* fix bypass insert jack port with midi CC
* add menu option to set a midi controller for engine bypass
* add scroll wheel support to status images
* switch to use glib-compile-resources instead gdk-pixbuf-csource to include images into libgxw.
* Fix Preset switching issue in lv2 amps and cabinet
* disable midi control for un-loaded plugs
* add check if LV2 ports are valid
* fix bug #34

Note that a couple of new additional guitar related plugs in LV2 format been available on github now. They all work very well in guitarix.

Guitarix is great and keeps getting better, but I have wondered since the UI change why the look isn't consistent from top to bottom. The noise gate, tuner, and amp sections have colors that extend to the edges with the bolt heads atop the colors. The cabinet and most of the effects (Chorus, for example) have gray vertical bands at the edges instead. Was there a particular reason for this?

Personally, I think it would be a bit more polished to have all the sections look the same with my preference being the colors extending to the edge like the noise gate, tuner and amp sections do. If it takes more some major overhaul to complete, I would also say it is not worth the effort, but mainly I'm curious why it was decided to make two looks for the different sections instead of a single, unified appearance.

Thank you for all of your hard work. It is much appreciated.

Any module with dark rack ears can be grabbed and rearranged by clicking and dragging on their rack ears. The modules you mention don't have them because they are not moveable.

Hi Tramp and all the others,

Thanks a lot!!! :D
I use it daily
Never a crash (as far as i know)

Great work.
It sounds also great,
Of course you need to adjust the stack and effects to your personal taste.
