Re: Ardour 5
I've been building/using it since it appeared in the git master branch. It is wonderful.sysrqer wrote:The new features look incredible and great to see some plugins included.
Best,

Personally I think the relationship between Harrison and ardour is extremely mutually beneficial. Harrison is promoting open source while still being able to run a business. You can easily remove plugins if they offend you.FaTony wrote: Bundling proprietary plugins? What a shame.

Sorry you feel that way, I disagree.FaTony wrote:Bundling proprietary plugins? What a shame.

Depends on how many monitors you have. I thought I wouldn't use it ever, until suddenly I was on a laptop. Of course you can use desktops, but hey, why not get more ways to skin a cat.ufug wrote:The idea of tabs on the interface seems silly, but also... AWESOME.

Re: Ardour 5
Only had time for a quick look so far. Very impressive. It seems to load up faster as well.

Re: Ardour 5
Looks like those are only in the binary bundles you've to download from ardour.orgFaTony wrote:Bundling proprietary plugins? What a shame.
When you build ardour from source, you get the plain source, without proprietary plugins.
On the road again.

You're saying this like it's impossible to run business using only free software.ssj71 wrote:Harrison is promoting open source while still being able to run a business.

Re: Ardour 5
anyway, availability of more commercial apps for linux is a good thing.
so, there's nothing that terribly wrong with promotion of them.
btw, ardour5 can easily be built without those plugins.

I'm pretty sure there's nicotine in the Tabbed interface... I can't stop using it now and constantly look for it in Mixbus... In other news Mixbus 3.5 has also dropped. Happy Times in Linux Audio world

I've only had a quick go with 5.0, and I did manage to make it crash, but it looks like a fascinating release. In particular, I'm hoping to get stuck in to the MIDI sequencing features such as the step sequencer. It's looking like the MIDI code in general has had a polish.
