Re: [ANN] Musical Artifacts - find presets, configs, sounds
Now the website has a favorite system, the little star icons next to the artifacts which logged in users can click on. An artifact will also have the number of times it was favorite show beside the icon (a la github star system). Also the API calls return this number as 'favorite_count' so developers can use it in their apps.

Re: [ANN] Musical Artifacts - find presets, configs, sounds
Nice site!
I tried adding some hydrogen drumkits with mixed results here
https://musical-artifacts.com/artifacts/133
Potential issues:
- File upload fails (archive was about 360Mbyte)
- At the bottom it originally displayed a "Download from Sendspace link" (it picked the first mirror link) but this collection contains two mirror archives and the link at the bottom of the page only displays the first Sendspace URL. Subsequently I uploaded a csv containing the list of kits. Now the link at the bottom displays the uploaded file. The intention would be to have the original 1 file archive here.

Re: [ANN] Musical Artifacts - find presets, configs, sounds
Hey asbak, thanks for contributing and for the feedback.
- Big file uploads are a problem right now, I'd advise against trying to upload files bigger than 50mb until I find a better solution. We have a few options:
-- If the file is available in another place I could download it in the server myself.
-- Seeing that it's licensed as public domain, you can mirror it on the Internet Archive (http://archive.org/) and add it as only one mirror on the server
- The download button originally worked only with the uploaded files, when there are none it will pick the first mirror instead. So that's what's happening here.
Anyway, if the sendspace links have the full file I can put in the server myself, but If you want I'd recommend the Internet Archive option too.

Re: [ANN] Musical Artifacts - find presets, configs, sounds
Thanks lfz, the sendspace archives are the same thing but spread over two files to get around their 200Mbyte (I think?) limit.

Re: [ANN] Musical Artifacts - find presets, configs, sounds
Guitarix now have a little web-interface to browse and download presets from musical-artifacts.
(a side note, therefore it introduce a new dependency to webkit-1.0)

Could you add the required dependency to the dependencies list on the Guitarix site?
I don't know which one I need.

On debian based systems the package you'll need now additional is called
Code: Select all
libwebkitgtk-dev
On the road again.
Re: [ANN] Musical Artifacts - find presets, configs, sounds
I hope guitarix users find it useful!tramp wrote:Guitarix now have a little web-interface to browse and download presets from musical-artifacts.

On the last few days I've tweaked the interface a little to make guitarix web window a little neater and also added a couple new presets... and more are on the way.
On the backend now we have sorting via most downloaded / best ranked and several small bug fixes. As always I'm open for feedback and hope everyone enjoys the site.

The web interface and preset handling are good news.tramp wrote:Guitarix now have a little web-interface to browse and download presets from musical-artifacts.

Does this mean you are secretly creating a cloud-based guitarix?
Also, is the MOD project utilizing some wireless tech to deprecate guitar cables?
2016, please hurry! The year when disparate technologies unify!
Cheers

Re: [ANN] Musical Artifacts - find presets, configs, sounds
Currently only download of presets be supported. Uploading presets within guitarix isn't possible for now, but yes, maybe I'll add that.glowrak guy wrote:The web interface and preset handling are good news.

We have to thank Ifz for providing the "Cloud", which makes it possible to go this way.
On the road again.
Re: [ANN] Musical Artifacts - find presets, configs, sounds
Just updated Guitarix. The preset download button works great, puts it straight in Guitarix.
Thanks tramp and lfz for making this work!

Re: [ANN] Musical Artifacts - find presets, configs, sounds
Was playing around with Guitarix a bit and thought about the following:
Is it possible to make an upload button as well?
If I recall correctly Tuxguitar had this kind of feature: you could make a song and then upload to the net.
