LMMS 1.0.0 is finally out
Well, the official announcement hasn't been made yet, but the files are available here:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/lmms/files/lmms/1.0.0/
Note to everyone who gets their LMMS from github:
LMMS development has now been divided in two main branches, stable and master. If you want the stable 1.0 release, get your source from the stable-1.0 branch. The master branch is for development and is not guaranteed to not break, and is not recommended for production use.
If you want to package LMMS for your distro, you should use stable-1.0.
Some big improvements compared to the previous official version (0.4.15):
UI:
- new and improved default theme
- many, many UI bugs fixed (beat/bassline editor works properly now)
- better knob handling
- better customization options for themes
Automation:
- new automation editing modes: linear/cubic automation curves
- controller bugs fixed
- LFO controllers accept custom waveforms
- peak controller improvements
Plugins:
- fixed tempo syncing in LADSPA effects
- ZynAddSubFX export fixed, works for all samplerates
- new instruments: OpulenZ (very accurate OPL2-emulator), Sfxr (old video game sound effect synth)
- Stutter mode for AFP sample player
- Four new native effects: Amplifier, Dual filter, Waveshaper and Dynamics Processor
MIDI:
- MIDI input bugs fixed
... and many other things I don't recall right now.
There are some things that are already under development but didn't get included to 1.0.0: new FX mixer, undo/redo, Zyn update, Calf update... so there's still something to look forward in the future. But, regardless, this is still a very major release and a big milestone for LMMS!

Re: LMMS 1.0.0 is finally out
Hi!
Congrats! That is an impressive changelog!
I'm having difficulty building 1.0.0 to create packages although previous versions have been a no-brainer and the configuration was error-free, I don't want to distract from your release thread so where is the best place to report the compilation error?

The lmms-devel mailing list is probably the best place to get answers regarding packaging.GMaq wrote:Hi!

Re: LMMS 1.0.0 is finally out
Built and tested on Fedora 19, x86_64. I played some demo songs, ALSA-only, everything appeared to be working as advertised. Haven't tested with JACK yet. GUI is much improved, I like it. Looks like I'll be spending some quality time with LMMS.
Tasty work, my compliments to the chefs.
Best,

Re: LMMS 1.0.0 is finally out
Hi Diizi,
this is probably the biggest news of the year in the field of linux DAWs !
It is such a great news to see a revival of LMMS.
I can't wait to have it packaged in KXStudio to be able to test it.
Now that LMMS has reached 1.0 I guess this is probably a good time to enter feature requests for next releases. Is it something that should go through github as well ?
Cheers.

Yes, on Github. It would however be nice if you could also take the time to check that your suggestion hasn't already been suggested before - there are lots of things that have already been planned for LMMS.DoosC wrote:Hi Diizi,

Re: LMMS 1.0.0 is finally out
Stable LMMS 1.0, Bitwig Studio 1.0 drops, and now even Traktion5, looks like we're having a stellar year on the software front thus far on pro audio GNU/Linux.

Not to mention the open-source release of the CDP Project software, a usable OpenMusic and updated SuperVP and Pm2 from IRCAM, the OpenAV stuff, a new AVLinux, new linuxDSP plugins, etc etc etc.moebius_rising wrote:... looks like we're having a stellar year on the software front ...
Definitely good days here in Linux audio land.
Btw, the latest LMMS is very impressive, the devs have done a bang-up job updating it.

Agreed ! And more is to come with Carla 2.0 on the way !
I made some feature request for LMMS post-1.0 for better integration in a modular environment.
Can't wait to test my dream set-up LMMS + Carla

Re: LMMS 1.0.0 is finally out
There's been some confusion, mix-ups and mistakes about LMMS packaging in Ubuntu 14.04. Due to reasons out of our control, the package that is currently offered in the repositories of Ubuntu 14.04 and Ubuntu Studio 14.04 is entirely broken, unstable and unfit for production use.
So if you're using Ubuntu 14.04 or any derivative, do not get LMMS from the official repositories. Get it from either the KXStudio PPA or our official home page.
I'll post here when the situation is fixed and it's safe to use the Ubuntu repositories. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Re: LMMS 1.0.0 is finally out
Some updates and news here...
Firstly the situation with the Ubuntu 14.04 (and derivatives) package is still the same, but it's being worked on and should get solved soon... the correct package is already in the 14.10 repos, and currently people are working on getting it backported to 14.04.
On a brighter note, 1.1 has now been separated as its own branch, as the upcoming 1.1 release is getting near - it's scheduled to be released sometime in June, and there are some neat new features in it: undo/redo support, 3 new instruments, new modular FX Mixer with internal routing capabilities, UI improvements and much more... 1.1 should be an even more exciting release than 1.0.
And there are already some interesting developments going on for 1.2...

Re: LMMS 1.0.0 is finally out
Thanks for the teasing!
It is very exciting, as a user, to hear about all that
It is just awesome to see that 1.0 was not just a one shot release; but on the contrary the project has a new impulse and is really going forward
Hurray to LMMS !

Re: LMMS 1.0.0 is finally out
Hello. Using LMMS on Windows 8, sorry
I seem to end up situations where no software works for me as I want.
LMMS fails on the following:
I want recreate a song. I place the song as an audio file to one track,
and then start recreating on the rest of the tracks. The problem
is that if I move the playhead, LMMS cannot play the song correctly.
Like LMMS reads only note-on/off events and cannot handle anything
else. Odd situations happens: when the playhead plays an empty place,
we may hear the song be played.
Audacity can handle this kind of use, but Audacity is bad in elsewhere:
it freezes when the number of tracks increases even if only a couple of
samples are playing simultaneously.
