revision 89 is not working... the gui crashes... can't edit any IR files or run guitarix.. No message in terminal.
Also brummer, have you tried a waveshaper for the preamp section? I mean being able to get a crunch out of the amp without using overdrive or distortion. I mean like the vsts. They simulate a tube amp like a marshall, soldano, mesa, etc. Then they have boost or distorion or overdrive to add the edge.
The reason I said waveshaper because it's the only thing that linux has that has a decent distortion (if you can get past or control the noise)
I've been toying around with some of the free vst plugins for guitar and they sound amazing.

@funkmuscle, maybe you can make an list with good IR files to use with guitarix/jconv?

Do you use those VST on Linux btw?

I think you need to register with these sites but they have so good IR files:

http://www.ultimatemetal.com/forum/equi ... pulse.html

This link is where I get the most from and yes, you do have to register... I think the more linux guitarist there, the more thse guys may wanna port their vsts to linux.

All the devs who make the awesome sound free vsts are there:

yeah, that sounds better... I read on some of the vst sites that these guys start with a waveshaper or even the schematics of the actual amp to create the amp sims.
Have you tried any of them from the link I posted? guitarix got a nice bluesy sound on a single coil pickup... I use it when I'm in a Hendrix mood.
If you can get guitarix to the sound level of some of the free ampsim vsts on that site, we'll have a winner because guitarix offers more than just an amp.

I will try . . .

I have set a antialiase filter befor the input, that make the sound more smoth, try it (rev 91) and let me know what you think about that.

I like the anti aliase. It adds like a clean smooth boost without distortion. Nice for bluesy tones. Still can't get a decent crunch out of the preamp. When I add overdrive, the sound breaks instead of a smooth distorted tone. The distortion doesn't seem to work at all.
It's getting there man... I wish I could do more that just test but what you're doing is too advanced for me by 100%.

When I add overdrive, the sound breaks instead of a smooth distorted tone.
try it together with the compressor.
The distortion doesn't seem to work at all
I have re-range the distortion volume, have a look at the advanced settings, and maybe adjust the gain new.
Also here you get well distortion sounds, when you use the compressor to limit the output.

EDIT2::
I have add a chebyshev waveshaper to the overdrive sektion now, it is used when distortion is off.
I guess it bring's a litlle crunsh in the output.

yes, I just tried it. It gives now a little better distortion and a bite to the bluesy tone. Can't get a good metal tone yet...
