Free/Open Singing Course/Book

Post by etienne »

Hi there! Season's greetings and all that jazz to everyone!

I have spent some of my time off over the holiday season to try to improve my singing voice, which I must admit is pretty abysmal. However, I have struggled to find anything on-line at all. YouTube videos are basically adverts for expensive courses, and the few books I could find in Google Play are really atrocious.

Does anyone have any suggestions for on-line (or even printed) singing/vocal books or courses? I would love something Creative-Commons licensed, but hey, I'm not that picky! (Even something that can be bought via Amazon could perhaps work.)

Or, alternatively, if you are a great singing coach and you would like to write something, please go ahead!

Thanks!

Ok! I have done a lot (and I mean a LOT) of Googling, and I have come accross some public domain books in the Internet Archive. I have NOT read them yet, so I am not sure how suitable they are for self-study, but here they are:

https://archive.org/details/solosinging00newm
https://archive.org/details/completemethodof00labl
https://archive.org/details/artsingingbased00shakgoog
https://archive.org/details/PrinciplesOfSinging
https://archive.org/details/vocaltechnic00foxa
https://archive.org/details/vocalmethod00benj

Perhaps one day someone will come accross this post and use these books as a base for a new, Creative Commons, free and open singing manual. Maybe that person will be me, but I cannot do it in the coming year. I think.
