Connecting AMPLIFIER to COMPUTER

Hello everybody.

I have this Daewoo amplifier (picture found on Google) and a UCA202 soundcard;

Trying to figure out how to record my turntable on the computer.

Seems not with this amplifier.

It has no line out and it has no phono in. Probably the sound card is able to boost the signal without adding too much noise when you plug the turntable directly into the input. The impedances between phono in and line in differ a lot and so do the signal levels which means that you'll most likely add some kind of distortion and some noise. But if that works to your liking you could use a special phono equalizer to add the needed frequency curve like e.g. Calf Emphasis (RIAA curve).

Better results you'll get with buying a phono-to-line preamp. If you want to buy a cheap one you're better off with a flat one (no filter) and add the filter digitally afterwards. Additionally some of them are available as USB sound devices. If they work with OSX and are class compliant they will most likely work with Linux, too.

if you can make a passable but noisy recording,
audacity editor lets you remove the noise: Find the noise-removal in the effects menu,
drag the mouse on a noisy music-free section,
and preview the operation. Apply it to the track, Undo-redo as desired.
It works well in some cases, well worth a try.
After the noise is gone, you can also boost the level, set the eq, hi/lo/bandpass filtering, etc,
and export finished audio in different formats.

There are also cheap usb turntables, I have one, not audiophile results,
but fine for getting tunes to mp3 players, and burning a CD of some favorites.
Noise/pop/click can be removed by hand for bad ones, or as noted above,
using audacity. For top results, Samplitube has a really good filter for old vinyl.

A UFO202 would be more suitable.

Thanks for your replies.
I guess i will just buy an UFO202 and settle things once and for all. Indeed, i have this UCA202 because at the time when i bought it, i thought it had the same features of the UFO202.
