Novation Launchpad, anyone?

Post by Minkovsky »

Just a purely theoretical question: Has anyone tried using the Launchpad on Linux? It seems it would be really good with seq24. So... Automap on Wine? I don't think so; might have issues with midi stuff. This sounds promising, but I don't want to spend money on a device which is only semi-working. So my question is, has anybody had any experience with this?

I tried using it with seq24, it's just to get started. You have to write a configuration file with the midi mapping though. What I did (but lost, since my laptop was stolen and I didn't have a backup) was to put mididings in between seq24 and the launchpad so to keep track of playing patterns (toggling the LEDs). Oh, and you just plug it in and it appears as a midi device.

I also played around a bit with a step sequencer someone had put together in pure data. The page it was available at is down now. :-(
Ever noticed something?
Unix comes with compilers.
Windows comes with solitaire.
