Yo what's up?

Post by MattKingUSA »

Sweet, this is great linux needs a site for musicians. No'one else is doing anything like this. Well, there is that silly project jokosher but that's hardly bringing musicians together like this site. Well, Honestly aslo I think Vanilla is way better than this type of forum. But that's only because I used to have this type on my site and it got spammed like insanly bad.

Ok bye,
Matt

Hi Matt! I sent you an email, but I also wanted to welcome you on the forum! I'm really glad you're here, and I hope we can build a community around creating music on Linux. I know Linux sure has helped me out on my music journey quite a bit!

Vanilla is a very slick forum package, to be sure! I decided to go with phpBB for a couple reasons, mainly because my webhost offers easy installation/upgrades for phpBB. Call me lazy, but installation is one less headache for me this way.

As far as spam goes...obviously, we haven't gotten a lot of spam yet, since we've had next to zero traffic, but I think there are some pretty effective spam management strategies for phpBB.

Awesome music @ your site, btw! Really enjoying it. Thanks for joining!

Hi there

Post by mike_blackstock »

Great idea Nathan.

Just a quick intro.

I've been using Linux for quite some time; from 1996 - 2003
I was the sysadm for a small internet provider in Canada.

Right now I do the same work but for a small group of
investors - maintaning the Linux servers. 90% of my
time in the office is free to pursue Linux and music
projects, so I'm gradually getting back into guitar playing.

Ok, cheers.
PS i have an insite webserver so if anyone needs some
space, I can accomodate some web-music projects
