New to the fourms, new to Ubuntu studio, new to music creation

Hey all,
My name is Joe. I'm a avid musician and have been playing in bands on and off since 2003. I'm primarily a drummer but dabble in recording and music creation. I'm here because I'm sure I'll have lots of questions. I am slightly familiar with Ubuntu but the studio aspect of the distro is foreign to me. Honestly I have very little experience with these types of programs and even less with linux specific versions. My main goal is to create wav samples for my Alesis pad and use a acoustic kick trigger to trigger bass drum sounds. Im sure if this site is anything like other linux communities you guys will be very helpful. I look forward to chatting and learning from you all.
