Hey!

I'm starting a Youtube channel on Linux audio production here: https://www.youtube.com/user/JHoermann
My first Video is about how to prepare Linux for audio production. Next video would be about Jack audio server. I'm posting new Tutorials to the Howto Section in this forum.
If you have any suggestions or Tutorial wishes just write here or pm.

See you,

Jochen

I'm planning to make a whole series with Linux DAWs. Showing some of the features and recording. Currently I'm using Tracktion and its very user friendly.

Hey, where (approximately, no need for private information) in Germany do you live? I organize real life meetups for open source audio people and maybe you happen to live nearby

Near Munich. Write a PM if you have any details about a meetup. Stutttgart area is ok, too.

Hi there! Nice to see a YouTube channel for this stuff.

Most beginners are confused by what device drivers (kernel modules) ALSA, FFADO, PulseAudio and JACK are and how they operate and interact with each other. I always wanted to cover this topic with videos and tutorials but I never found the time. I think an in depth explanation of this things could do for a nice video, clarifying Linux & Linux Audio structure to beginners.

Quite the opposite opinion from me:
I welcome advanced topics and specific usecases for programs or musical tasks and problems.
There are so many "Introduction into Linux Audio" websites and articles already that it would be a waste of time and motivation to produce yet another one.

Not on this specific topic I think. If you are aware of them it would be nice to see links, as I am often active on Ubuntu Forums and most newbies are completely unaware of what actually ALSA is and what PulseAudio and JACK are. Often, they are full of misconceptions and the shock of not having a single "system control" approach for audio scares away many newbies which maybe could have been more inclined to try out things if they had the "Linux audio" picture from the beginning. This is what I end up directing people most of the time, but I think it does not give the whole picture. Also, many other sources are too outdated.

Anyway, just my 2 cents

Thanks for the Link, I used it in my new Video about JACK. It's online now! :)
