Greetings from Brazil!

Post by jtheripper »

Hello, Linux Musicians! I've finally came aboard into this forum. :D

I'm using GNU/Linux since jan/2012 as my main OS and for this I can say I know a thing or two about it. :P

Right know I'm attempting college in Computer Science and a do know how to use a console and some program languages.

I done my registration into this forum to improve myself and others to be better musicians using Linux and/or open-souce software.

Until some time ago I did blame some OS-softwares of sound (like DAW's and softsynths) as limitants, because I didn't succeed composing with it. Mostly with LMMS.
But then I say some random guy on youtube composing with LMMS making in 12 minutes what I couldn't make in 12 days. :( After that, it was evident the problem was me and my abilities, not the tools.

Well, I do want to change this situation and I think this is the right place do start. :D

This is my installation of KXstudio, with I installed XFCE and done everything to be easy.

As I said, I have some computer skills and programming knowledge, but almost zero music theory and a very basic on synthetizers and such.
Hope this forum can lead me a way to fulfill this dream of composing music and eletronic tunes like my idols, as helping back the Linux and Opensource community, doing the best with the tools that same community made for me without any cost.

All the tools are set. It's now or never.
