The Rules

Post by folderol »

Don't Talk To Me While I'm Thinking

* If I have my eyes closed, I'm thinking.
* If I'm (apparently) staring into space, I'm thinking.
* If I'm looking at the computer, I'm thinking.
* If I'm looking around the desk, I'm thinking of a cup of tea.
* If I have a cup of tea and am looking around the desk, I'm thinking about the biscuits (3 please) that should also be there.

Finally:
Just because I have my hands in my pockets, it doesn't mean I'm not thinking about the job.

It's incredible how much fuss the Brits are doing with tea when all they drink are infusions of tea scraps put into little bags. Sheesh.

Cheers.

Oh?
Which 'Brits' would those be?
I don't see anyone making a fuss here in England.

P.S.
Maybe you missed the point of the post.

Well, maybe I wanted to just underline that very single aspect of the text. It is possible at all to allow for some leeway or are we expected to be (thinking) robots ? That is, in both the reception of a reply and the reaction. Do you really really really consider that one would focus on one item in one sentence of a text out of sheer mental obscurity and other varied limitations to the point of saying that a point was missed ?

However "fuss" is seemingly the right word, as per Merriam-Webster: "1. needless bustle or excitement 2. a state of agitation especially over a trivial matter"

Or a "a big thing" if you wish, as in: The Brits are making such a big thing out of (drinking) tea when all they drink are infusions of tiny scraps of tea leaves that were put into little pouches a long time ago.

Caveat: I might be ALL wrong while tea is an unknown, unfavored, extremely undergroud thing in England. Could be.

Note to self: if ever promoted to moderator, ban both of these clowns.

Oops, I just broke both of the other notes to self.

Note to others: my ability to both understand and communicate sarcasm is completely uncalibrated.
