Dirty hands with GNU grub

Post by james=jwm//art@net »

...long story... removed a hard drive of a distro never used. grub was on it's mbr.

debian rescue disc gets grub back on (hd0) without re-install.

unfortunately I no longer have a boot menu and am taken into the grub shell.

To boot I have to:

Code: Select all

root (hd0,0)
setup (hd0)
kernel (hd0,0)/boot/vmlinuz
(or something very similar)

I love Linux, it's great - because if it was Windows, I'd be really *@#:?"£!!
