Nice game
Ibanez Artist from 1982?
Not sure about that TOM stopbar though - looks like an aftermarket upgrade

Not an Ibanez, you're very close with the dating though, this guitar is from 1980.gimmeapill wrote:Ibanez Artist from 1982?
It's the original stopbar.gimmeapill wrote:Not sure about that TOM stopbar though - looks like an aftermarket upgrade

No, it's a coil tap.42low wrote:That small switch, is that a build-in distortion?
Yes, 1980.42low wrote:My first electric (les paul) had it build in that way too. Working on 9v battery.
And if so, this one could be easy from the early 80's.

Ha! You got me, indeed that's the original Les Paul Doublecut, not the Ibanez knockoff.

It's not a Les Paul DC, the double cut of a Les Paul DC is a bit rounder.gimmeapill wrote:Ha! You got me, indeed that's the original Les Paul Doublecut, not the Ibanez knockoff.

Re: What kind of guitar is that?
We have a winner! Extra bonus points for the exact version, the photo you posted is a different model as it has no sunburst and no neck binding.gimmeapill wrote:1980 Gibson 335-S

Re: What kind of guitar is that?
The closest thing I could find with the proper bridge stop bar, knobs and pickguard - nice guitar
But yeah, the binding come usually with the deluxe version, so yours should be the variant called "Professional Deluxe 1980 tabacco sunburst" or something like that

That's the exact same guitar And thanks, it's a great guitar but I don't like the Dirty Fingers so I'm still thinking about what to do with it

Re: What kind of guitar is that?
Given the age of the guitar, it would really be a shame to mod it now, better keep it in mint condition.
If not for those religious considerations, I'd happily slap a pair of seymour duncans (either Jazz, JB, or Distortion) and change that coil tap to a coil split.
