phpBB, or... ?

Post by studio32 »

Hi,

I know we've have updated this board recently, but phpbb seems very interesting for spam/ bot etc.

Isn't is wise to change to another service in the future?

for example
http://www.simplemachines.org/
or isn't that better?

I think spam will be an issue no matter what software we use. Currently, we're looking into some more plugins that will help keep spam to a minimum.

SMF is good software (I'm a moderator on another SMF board, and I used to run a SMF board as well) but I think we'll stick with phpBB, since we are already fairly invested in the platform.

People told me that phpbb is more vulnerable for spam and hacking in comparison with SMF, and SMF seems to be more easy for users and admins. I don't have experience with both software btw...

Maybe not upgrade to phpbb 4 in the future but change to SMF at that time?
