clear the "new post" marking of the idex automatically

I would like that once I left the forum, then all posts would be marked as "read". Even on those parts of the forum I haven't visited, or threads I haven't opened. This makes it easier to follow. You come back and you see directly where there are new posts instead of having to check the dates. No problem if this would be an option.

I agree...I know this is a slight inconvenience, but it looks to be a limitation of our forum software.
