Afaik it's mainly to boost their sites' google rankings for the search terms in the messages.

Even then I don't see where the money is coming from: I don't see why anyone would actually pay for porn on the internet, and their advertisements seem to mostly point at even more porn sites, which must get funded somehow... Of course, running a spambot is probably dirt-cheap, but still, I don't quite get it.
