Why is http://planet.linuxaudio.org/ (why not https?) not listed in the category
Linux Music News

Announcements of proprietary software may fit better in the Marketplace.
mentioned?
Because there are also articles that mention proprietary software?

I think that's a great idea. I'll add it.

https://planet.linuxaudio.org does exist, but it suffers from 'mixed (insecure) display content' problems. Given this problem, do you think I should add the http or the https link?

No.

THX 8)

I use the AddOn "HTTPS Everywhere" and was amazed about a "http" address.
I think generally https is the better internet connection. IMHO

Generally, https is a good idea. In reality the security approach is getting perverted.

The most trustworthy certificate is self-signed by the server's operator. But those are getting blocked in more and more environments. And browser manufacturers make it more and more complicated to accept those.

John and Jane Doe aren't able to do this.

Now think about: Why are free certificates ("Let's encrypt") only valid for a short time? Do you think of a drug dealer at the schoolyard, too?

Now wait until it's no more possible for John and Jane Doe (or for everyone) to display a http site. Then you have a nice way to censor. Your site is not wanted by government or other big players? Then you get no SSL-certificate. Or they make it too expensive for small players like you.

Get the idea?

I hadn't thought that far.
This argument is logical/traceable/true and when I start to think about it this aspect also makes me ruminative.

Makes sense to me, but you'd have to talk to the linuxaudio.org administrators ;)
