Theme
As you've probably noticed we're currently using a pretty default phpbb theme. This is a request for suggestions for a different theme.
If you make suggestions below, I'll add them to the poll.
I'm not promising I'll install the theme with the most votes - I'll only install one that I really feel is an improvement over the current theme in all respects. I've added the quasar theme as an example. I find it fairly beautiful and clean, but wouldn't install it because it is fixed-width (so it doesn't take advantage of the width of your browser window) and wastes a huge amount of space on the right on rarely-used links.
(I'll probably do a similar thing for logo's later, but let's first pick a style, and then choose a logo that fits well in it)

Re: Theme
However standard it may be, the logo has made this theme look good.
Voted to keep it. Err... them.

Offtopic, but I'm using http://jonls.dk/redshift/ and it seems to help.falkTX wrote:they still use pure white on black, not good for the eyes

Re: Theme
That kills the colours (ok, if you don't mind).raboof wrote: Offtopic, but I'm using http://jonls.dk/redshift/ and it seems to help.
It's better to ajust "backlight" acording to ambient; there is also software for this

Re: Theme
Yeah, it 'fixes' the white balance, that is the point .Capoeira wrote:That kills the coloursraboof wrote:Offtopic, but I'm using http://jonls.dk/redshift/ and it seems to help.

Re: Theme
Please stick to something typographically sensible as determined by rules laid down over the centuries .
There has never been any doubt that black on white is the most legible colour combination, but it can be said that, when this was laid down, paper was the medium, and not a light-emitting screen. Still, black-on-something-pale still wins, I believe, with not too much pure white to strain the eyes. The current format, with the pale-blue background, is much better than the usual white of many forums.
White on black, or any "reversed-out-"looking theme is horrible for reading text

agreed, I hate reading on dark background. DOn't know why that "dark theme" hype?

Re: Theme
Here's a suggestion: https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/styl ... ss_2/demo/
It's dark text on a very light gray background; it's not fixed width nor does it have the links on the side.

War, crime, disease, starvation, extreme poverty; these are serious things.

Re: Theme
I'm happy with anything that is dark against light, but I don't think it is better than this one, just a bit different.AnthonyCFox wrote:Here's a suggestion: https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/styl ... ss_2/demo/

How about yellow on orange?
Oh! Sorry... I still have flashbacks to 1968

Re: Theme
The problem with the current Theme is not the theme itself. It is branding.
This is just the default Theme, except the Logo. Every other phpBB on the web looks like this.
So I find a change necessary just to get a bit more unique.

Re: Theme
Is branding entirely necessary for a site like this? It doesn't particularly offer any super-special services or products that could be represented by any specific theme. If this were the KXStudio forum or something then branding would make sense to me, but it isn't.NilsGey wrote:The problem with the current Theme is not the theme itself. It is branding.
