[Qtractor] Glitch when looping

Post by martibs »

I have created a short loop, extracted from a song in Audacity. When looping over the clip in Audacity, the playback is perfect. But when I import it to Qtractor, choose Clip->Loop Set and play back, there is a noticable glitch every time it loops back to the beginning. I remember I had the same problem in Ardour. Is there a way to remedy this?

EDIT: When I copy the loop clip, and place it directly after the other one, there is no glitch when transitioning from one clip to the next.

how short is your clip?

at least in qtractor playback, very short clips don't get a chance to have an effective micro fade-in/out at the loop edges;

The clip is ~14 seconds long. This is the sample (warning: it might be loud): https://www.dropbox.com/s/ljxmgci7ploy1 ... 1.wav?dl=0

Here is a recording of the clip played back in loop mode in Audacity: https://www.dropbox.com/s/4g3nxsuhs7bfr ... 1.wav?dl=0

And here is the same clip looped in Qtractor: https://www.dropbox.com/s/pm3tskpc1h8n3 ... p.wav?dl=0

The recordings do not start in the same position of the clip, but the essential part is where the clip loops. It's not too bad, but it's there and it's noticeable, and it shows up on the waveform (Clip loops between 14.20-14.30): https://www.dropbox.com/s/hmdy0wtdie8toe2/loop.png?dl=0
