Your first post in this topic was:AlexTheBassist wrote:my advice was friendly
That's not OK here. Please do better.AlexTheBassist wrote:So, now it's okay to post idiotic shit on forums, like: “I'm a total dumbster and can't even wipe my ass without assistance, HELP PLEASE!!!!11”. Do I get you right?
The original question was as unreasonable as it is possible.

You've gone from unreasonable to delusional. Swapping some of your self-admiration for self-awareness would be good here.AlexTheBassist wrote:my advice was friendly too (despite he was acting rude), because someday it could save that dude's life
In past threads, falkTX expressed frustration having to go through the work of deleting posts and locking threads when they would devolve into petty arguments, and now it appears he has left this forum after the last such occurrence. I think that is the type of burnout raboof was talking about and the type that concerns me, too. I don't have much sympathy for the burnout you feel exhausting yourself over a thread you could choose to ignore. A beginner asking a simple question isn't the problem you make it out to be. In fact, it's part of the reason this forum exists. On the other hand, your actions are sucking time from a moderator compelled to respond to keep the forum's discourse respectful. That is a problem.AlexTheBassist wrote:Stupid questions is what's burning me out.

Re: Beginner question about KXStudio
The reason and motivation for the forum is well described here: "Our Mission Statement, Values, and Vision" viewtopic.php?p=896#p896 and "Forum Posting Guidelines" viewtopic.php?p=895#p895.
Computers and technology have always been quite complex and therefore complicated. Every 2 - 3 years something fundamental changes, among other things technology but also other areas are quite fast moving. I am also of the opinion that more and more users (including me) are losing their understanding of technology and its complex interrelationships - many think everything is quite simple, that a device does exactly what the user wants (possibly a habit from the mobile phone) - nevertheless or just because of that we should help each other cherishing/good-heartedly and share knowledge.
The sound makes the music.

Re: Beginner question about KXStudio
I take responsibility for derailing this thread with my first post, so I'd like to finish by saying, as far as I am concerned, the side line of discussion ended with khz's last post. His thoughtful words are a nice way to close, so I'm leaving it there.

We really need to bring back the tradition of settling disagreements with dueling pistols.

Re: Beginner question about KXStudio
@AlexTheBassist
I installed from the software installer in Linux Mint.
People on another forum told me about Kxstudio. I found it in the installer.
KXstudio has many installers there and the description is most of the time one sentence.
For example 'Kxstudio-desktop' explanation says:
"This is a metapackage that provides the KXStudio desktop"
That's it. No other explanation.
There's no link to the website there.
How can I read something that isn't there?
I went to this forum because on another forum they said this was the place to be for people who want to start with music on Linux.
For everybody I want to tell the following:
- my knowledge of Linux is beginner level
- English is not my native language
- I'm an illustrator, not a Linux specialist
- hard comments works demotivating to me
I am new to Linux and maybe sound to others naive or so.
I feel overwhelmed by Alex The Bassist negative comments.
I'm a nice person with good intentions and don't understand why people respond this way.
Maybe it's best to leave this topic for what it is. I have no questions for now.
Peace

It's a shame that you feel that way but I would encourage you to not worry about posting if you want to ask something. Some people are just miserable, bitter and should be ignored.

I must say that as a not-any-more-newbie to Linux, I found even KX Studio 12.04 (which was really easy to install) too complicated for me . I myself started with Ubuntu, tried Linux Mint, afterwards Debian. At last I moved to multimedia distributions. For a while it was KX Studio 14.04, but I moved to other ones.
But I must admit that even now, after almost 8 years with Linux as my main system, I didn't succeed in installing a new KX Studio (I've tried it few months ago ).
I have read that you like to control and record external hardware synthesizers with a Linux DAW. Right?
- Maybe a first step could be to try it with your current distribution. It could be possible with Debian, Ubuntu, Mint or other ones.
- I would recommend a solid multimedia distribution: AV Linux is a well-known one. I like even more LibraZiK studio http://librazik.tuxfamily.org/base-site-LZK/english.php - because it's really straight-ahead and stable. You have written that you are no English native speaker - LibraZiK studio is a French distribution (which can be adapted to English and other languages). If you are French speaking, there is also a very fine specialized Linux multimedia forum: http://linuxmao.org/Accueil .
As a DAW for the kind of work you mention, I would recommend Ardour ( http://ardour.org/ ).
