(Apologies if you know this, it is new to me)
If you have a mouse pad with a scroll bar and use Ardour or Mixbus; if you click on the fader knob on the screen, the scrollbar becomes the fader. I did not know this and am finding it very useful for recording automation. It may work in other DAWs.

Not till recently, and I have been doing this a long time. I just love the way it feels like a fader so you can massage a track in a mix. Mouse drags just weren't cutting it for me (and I do know it works for midi velocity too )42low wrote:To bad you didn't know and couldn't ask. I knew and would have told you.
Know this? The same goes for the slides and (round) knobs in plugins.

I usually use the mouse-wheel to move knobs and sliders, which feel natural as well.
But you are right, mostly the mouse-pad is a not so used unit, as moving the mouse pointer with it is terrible, so it's a good hint to use the scroll-bar for moving knobs and sliders.

On the road again.
