Hello,
Has anyone used Seq42, this fork of Seq24? (https://github.com/Stazed/seq42). I installed using the instructions at the bottom of the readme, and the program launches fine, but it doesn't appear in my Catia patchbay at all for any MIDI connections (I'm not even sure if I'm expecting the right behavior there). Forgive me, I still feel relatively new with JACK, so if there are suggestions for some troubleshooting, I'm all ears.

Not 100% sure, as I didn't try that one, but it could be that it creates only alsa midi ports (like seq24 did), in which case you should see them with an utility like Aconnect, and make them visible to jack with a2jmidid.

Otherwise you may have better luck with Sequencer64, as there was quite a lot of work done to improve jack support:
