Quantizing *audio* tracks [SOLVED]
Hello!
My drum track has some beats a little "off". Is there a program (DAW, plugin...) that syncs them to a grid? I can do that manually but it's incredibly long and tedious.
I know there are such features in the commercial world...do we have it as well?
(Please avoid arguments like "that's cheating", and so on...there are many other threads for that!)

This looks interesting!barbouze wrote:Maybe Shuriken Beat Slicer could ease this process?
Is this already available in the Ubuntu or KXStudio reps?

Re: Quantizing *audio* tracks
It isn't in the KXStudio repositories yet because of its beta status but there are packages for various Ubuntu flavors and Debian and it builds quite easily.

Re: Quantizing *audio* tracks
Tried it, and YES! It's exactly what I need.barbouze wrote:It isn't in the KXStudio repositories yet because of its beta status but there are packages for various Ubuntu flavors and Debian and it builds quite easily.
Just one problem: in KXStudio (with its default dark theme) it is impossible to see the waves, all is just black. Is it possible to change the colors, or do I have to change the system theme?
EDIT: nevermind what system colors I choose, it's just all invisible.

Re: Quantizing *audio* tracks
I know! And I like the theme, don't get me wrong. But Shuriken seems not to like it very much.falkTX wrote:You don't have to use the theme, there was an option to NOT use it and it was unchecked by default.
The live system does have the dark theme, but it's optional after install.
(Is it a theme problem or a Shuriken problem? Either way, how can I solve it?)
EDIT: I created a new user without setting the theme to the KXStudio one. It is still all black...

Hi paul, are you using the latest code from Git or a package from an earlier release? If this issue is present in the latest code I'll need to look into it before the next release.

Hi. I added the ppa and installed the package that was there. It says v0.4.RockHopper wrote:Hi paul, are you using the latest code from Git or a package from an earlier release? If this issue is present in the latest code I'll need to look into it before the next release.

Re: Quantizing *audio* tracks
It might be worth compiling the latest source code as the GUI has changed alot since the last release. It's pretty easy to build Shuriken - instructions are on the GitHub page: https://github.com/rock-hopper/shuriken
If the waveform display is still all black I'll look into this at the weekend.

Sorry, I'm forgetting that regular users don't typically have all the required development packages installed. No worries, you just need to install the missing packages:
automake
autotools-dev
libtool
pkg-config
libqt4-dev
libqt4-opengl-dev
libaubio-dev (or libaubio4-dev) - make sure it's version 0.4.1
librubberband-dev
libsndfile1-dev
libsamplerate0-dev
libasound2-dev
libjack-dev
libx11-dev
uuid-dev
automake
autotools-dev
libtool
pkg-config
libqt4-dev
libqt4-opengl-dev

librubberband-dev
libsndfile1-dev
libsamplerate0-dev
libasound2-dev

Ok, compiled it from source...and yes, the wave is black. The whole waveform rectangle is just a black rectangle.RockHopper wrote:It might be worth compiling the latest source code as the GUI has changed alot since the last release.
