I apologize if this has been discussed. I did a search, but I admit I was not extremely vigilant.
The problem I have is that once I have used my sound card (M-Audio FastTrack MkII) for anything, Jack cannot seem to take control of it.
I really don't believe that we were meant to have to reboot to start Jack.
This is error I receive...
"Failed to acquire device name : Audio1 error : Method "RequestRelease" with signature "i" on interface "org.freedesktop.ReserveDevice1" doesn't exist"
Is this configuration error? Is there a step I can take to free up the sound card?
I really don't mind taking some extra steps, as they can always be scripted! I just don't want to reboot whenever I want to record.

Yes. Pulseaudio is what runs most of the audio.
The question is, how can I get it to let go without rebooting?
