Ardour3 and crazy xruns

Post by funkmuscle »

Hey, anyone having xruns so bad with A3 that it's unusable?
I have A3-beta5 and that runs smoothly with latency set at 128.
if I change latency to 1024, A3 doesn't complain as much so I figure something is wrong.

I'm using Arch64bit.

Is Jack using RT properly?

What does it say at startup?

I recently had some dramas when I dumped GDM (or any DM) in favour of startx...

Cheers,
Mattt.

Hhhmmm... That's strange, then. I'm having no dramas at all with latest (binary release) A3 on Arch64 with an M-Audio 2496 running at 256 frames/period, 2 periods/buffer and 96000 sample rate. The workstation does double-duty as my everyday / development machine and almost *never* xruns apart from one particular web site load (think it's something to do with Flash, but is of no concern because it has nothing to do with music / production).

Given the particulars of your problem (fine with b5, not fine with A3 release), I'd suggest paying a visit to the IRC channel :-)

Sorry I can't be of any more assistance than that...

Cheers,
Mattt.
