Re: Ardour3 is out

No xruns here (Fedora 17 x64). It was picky about one of my plugins and would blow up until I removed it. I never had much luck getting the betas to work on my system but I didn't try very hard. So far the only annoyance is using it with Ladish. It is using Jack Session to save its state and it does...

Re: Bitwig for Linux reviewed

I understand that Portaudio can make things a PITA for routing audio connections around, but what does that mean for MIDI and Jack Transport?

Re: Why people dont like KDE ?

I'll chip in my $.02 as well. For me Gnome3 is a frustrating experience when working with dual monitors that aren't extremely high resolution. Too much space is wasted by huge window decorations etc. Some apps just don't work properly in a dual monitor setup. If I maximize Chrome and put it on the r...

Re: adaptation for Firewire device (Echo AF12)

i am not sure what that is influencing "interupt request" Thanks in advance, any help is apreciated. If you look in /proc/interrupts you'll see what IRQ's are being used by which drivers. In my case, the TI firewire adapter looks like this: 16: 40 0 161 0 0 0 0 0 IO-APIC-fasteoi ehci_hcd:...

Re: adaptation for Firewire device (Echo AF12)

I'm not sure what you're asking. The card will have a firewire port on it. You don't necessarily have to disable the onboard chipset if you want to use a card. The biggest problems I've run into were from devices being on the same IRQ's. My laptop has one of the Ricoh chipsets which is said to be pr...

I say why bother with either one. Vi should be all anyone will ever need.

Can we start a "Flame War" sub-forum because that's all that really seems to go on around here lately. This is getting old real fast.

I use Mixbus and I am not a spammer. Personally I like it and I don't mind paying for it, but I think you should use whatever you're comfortable with.

Exactly what I was thinking. The Linux audio community is too small for this. Now would be a good time to start showing some class.

Re: How about openSuse?

I think times have changed. Yum handles the dependencies now. If I want to install a package I type "yum install <package name>" and it resolves the dependencies for me. Suppose I don't know the name of the package but I know I need the one that provides a certain library. I type "yum...

Re: How about openSuse?

Just curious, but what's so bad about rpm? I've been a RedHat user since the consumer release days so rpm is all I've really known. What am I missing out on?

Re: BIG PROBLEM - please help!

I've had weird problems stopping studios when I run a2j. Not sure if it will make a difference in your case but try stopping a2j before stopping your studio (or set up a test studio without it).
